Fun Day at Sea.

Wednesday

Woke up and went to breakfast with some of the members of our cruising party then mom and I headed out to the decks in search of a good place to set up shop for the day. We were originally supposed to go to Turkey on this day but due to the unstable atmosphere and fluctuating tensions in the country, Carnival decided to give us a "Fun Day at Sea" instead which includes you staying on the ship, doing activities galore, and eating to your hearts content. We found a good spot to lay out and people came and went throughout the day. This was the first of my attempts to get some color and boy did it work well.

We grabbed burritos from the burrito bar for lunch and they were almost as good as Chipotle (it's all about what you put in it). After, we went to get in line for the Skyride but the shoe requirements wouldn't allow us. We went back down to our room to change them and I was just so tired I ended up taking an hour long nap. *Side note: naps on cruises are crucial. You will be more tired than you knew you could be, just wait.* By the time my mom had dragged me back out of the room with the correct footwear, the Skyride had closed for the day.

Skyride that I was determined to experience

This lead to a food escapade with a friend of mine in which we gobbled down desserts from a buffet bar we stumbled across. So delicious! We headed down to the Havana Bar next to check it out and found a semi-secluded pool and jacuzzi in the back. This would be the place everyone returned to and became known as the jumpin' spot for the entirety of this trip.

Part 1 of 3 desserts for the evening. Caramel apple crumble!

We knew about an interactive movie trivia game said to be going on and the hot cruise director who'd be leading it so we trotted on over. The game was actually fun and we got one of our friends up on stage. Suffice it to say, Carnival games get imaginative and slightly uncomfortable if you're not in the right frame of mind very quickly. We had lots of laughs so it all worked out.

Dinner was nearly upon us by then so we parted ways to go get ready for the evening. Dinner itself included a little show from the crew, dancing included and was fairly comical. This dancing and singing with the crew was also to become a nightly occurrence and welcomed by all. Seeing your waiters dance around you to songs like "Low" by Flo Rida is memorable by any standards.

The waist band of my skirt wouldn't allow me to get an appetizer and dinner both but after seeing the dessert menu, I knew what had to be done. And would you believe, the table next to us had some sort of small celebration going on and had a chocolate chocolate cake to celebrate? They were so kind as to share pieces of it with the crew. So yes ladies and gentlemen, I had a total of three desserts that day and have no shame in telling you. They were scrumptious and it's not like I eat like that at home. What happens on vacation, stays on vacation.

The majority of our party, the crew included, ended the night at the Havana Bar where the music was live and the laughs were plenty.

xx
