BABY BABY BABY!
Hellooooo world!
So, I was invited to a baby shower but simultaneously informed I would not be able to get a ride out to said shower. This shower was located in New Jersey. You all know how much I loveeee Jersey. I accepted the idea of having to trek out there and on Sunday, everything finally happened.
I left two and a half hours before the shower was to begin so I could help if necessary seeing as the shower was for my cousin whose mother I'm fairly close to. I left three minutes late and because of it, I walked onto the train platform just as my train was pulling away. Cool. Ten minutes later, another train arrived and I hopped on. Because of signal problems or service issues or the MTA just being the good ol' delayed MTA, I had to get a local train then get off and wait for an express one so I could meet my 12:15pm bus at the George Washington Bridge. Too bad I learned, after letting two trains pass me by, that local train were running on the express track and if you wanted local you had to go north first then head back on a downtown train. So onto the train I hopped, again, and amen because I made it to the bridge for my bus just in time. This is where the problems I knew would ensue, ensued.
I got to the bridge, paid $3.20 (such an odd price, no?) and went to the loading area. The bus Google Maps told me I needed was 178. The ticket I purchased said I was getting on bus 182. I wasn't sure what to do so I got on the 182 and hoped maybe they went the same direction. In retrospect, that was a dumb idea.
So I'm watching Google Maps like a hawk while on this bus, looking at where I'm supposed to be heading vs. where this bus is taking me and lo and behold, after crossing the bridge I was headed to north Jersey when I was supposed to be going in a westerly direction. I panicked for half a second then got off the bus and went back to the stop right after the bridge crossing. Got on the correct bus, paid another $1.50, finally arrived at my destination. Right before arriving however, I nearly got run over by a million cars because one nice person let me cross half the street but no one else was willing to to do the same for the other direction. So amen for being alive.
My travel saga has officially ended.
I found out I was very early by knocking on the door and going into to my cousin's home (not the pregnant one) to find it nearly empty except for her husband in the shower. The shower started at 1pm. I arrived at 1pm. Nothing much happened until 2 something. Ha.
All in all, it was such a nice time. The food was great, the people I met were cool, the presents were adorable. This one older lady there had so much make-up on it was crazy. Eyeliner all over the place, rouge, red lipstick, 3 dangling earrings, the lady had the works. No, I didn't get a photo though...
I helped put out the food and thought I knew about everything we had but then all of a sudden, my cousin, not the pregnant one, and a family friend are walking around serving people macaroni and cheese. I had already eaten. I took some mac n'cheese anyway. Because that's not the sort of thing you pass up. I mean hello.
The party favors were so cute. Large suction jars that said either "Fresh", "Keep", "Save", or "Store" and had a loufa inside. I vacillated between "Keep" and "Store" and finally went with "Store". I love it. It's adorable.
I got a ride back to the city thankfully and it cut my travel time down quite a bit.
In conclusion, I like baby showers. Minus the fact I literally got eaten alive by mosquitos. Ew.
Until next time lovelies,
xx

View from the bridge is not as cool as view of the bridge
Unfortunately I do not have a view of the bridge at this time
